WL//WH Track Of The Day: L I P S “In Summer”

Track Of The Day L I P S

It’s a terribly warm day over here on the Mediterranean coast, so what’s better than a gorgeous, lazy and sun-soaked  song for those endless carefree summer days to come.

But like often happens in pop, as to make it terribly fascinating, behind the uplifting, sugary, and cheerful surface lie layers of struggle and unrest.

UK four-piece L I P S from Falmouth, Cornwall perfectly harmonize crystalline jangle pop, slightly distorted dazed shoegaze and moody dream pop in a rather superbly harmonious way that borders on perfection as shown in their recent debut 5-track S/T EP via Sunday Records.

The band’s brand new single “In Summer” uncoils breezy summery vibes, aroused by sparkling jangling guitar chords, solid bassline and nimble drums, that mask anxious undercurrents of the inescapable time to come, embodied by gorgeously sweet, longing, hopeful female vocals that float and soar in captivating bittersweet harmonies, laced with sorrow and distress together with swirling wistful guitar leads and bright hypnotic tense keys drifting towards fatal disillusionment.

Dreams run out, she just has to say goodnight to her fairytale life.

Keep up with L I P S:
