WL//WH Track Of The Day: KRUR “Love Fear and Dreams”

Track Of The Day   KRUR

“In Principio Era Il Buio (In the Beginning There Was Darkness)” was the Italian title of the 2016 debut EP from Krur, the discontinuous solo project of the enigmatic musician Hans Backovic from the Piedmont region, “an experiment, a bizarre creature that serves to exorcise passions/obsessions.”  Morbid, disturbing, and alienating, Krur is a sonic endeavour inspired by the obscure nightmarish and visceral imagery from the visionary cinema of Carpenter, Lynch, Cronenberg, Fulci, and Argento, among others.

Taking a broad approach to a gamut of dark-related sounds such as Dark-Cold-Synth-Wave-Electro-Goth-Alternative-Post-Punk, the project pieces together cold and moody Goth-Electro-Darkwave in the latest and already third single of the year, “Love Fear and Dreams.”

Cloaked in a heavy icy darkness which impedes light and induces fear, tight punchy beats, along with humming bassline oscillations, relentlessly stab scared expressive baritone vocals switching between warm aches and cold broods amid stoic celestial echoes, blanketed in desolate and melancholic glowing swathes of pulsing synths.
