WL//WH Track Of The Day: KLINE COMA XERO “Double Vision”

Track Of The Day  Kline Coma Xero

Started in 2014, Kline Coma Xero, the music project of Sacramento-based musician Tony Williams delves into iced and retro-futuristic sci-fi synthesised analog soundscapes inspired by the pioneering obscure cradle of minimal wave experimentalists that thrived in the late ’70s/early ’80s, through a sparse string of releases through specialized labels such as Medical Records LCC and Infravox.

The new single, “Double Vision”, veers into vibrant and throbbing OMD/ Rational Youth synth-pop territories steeped in sheer sad melancholia providing analogue vintage sounds and mesmerizing sad melodic flows through disorienting memories shattering truth and perception with a ‘double vision’ of conflict, denial, and responsibility.

Punchy and hollow drum programming sets the metronomic pace, punctuated by obsessively pulsating warbling and undulating bassline, swept by the glaring pining wander of lonely synth sweeps, brimming with warm wistful intensity, swirling in harmony with icy bright whistling motifs, over numb, distressed emotional croons wading fearful and helpless in the angsty dust of time, casting the listeners onto dancing emotive drifts of nostalgic gloom.
