WL//WH Track Of The Day: KING HIT “Sap”

WL//WH Track Of The Day  KING HIT

Having just dropped their second single, “Sap”, via GlassHead Records, the young New Zealand band King Hit receives nothing less than an enthusiastic comment from the boss at the shoegaze radio “par excellence”, DKFM.

In “Sap”, the Wellington foursome deftly harmonizes the contrast between abrasiveness and softness, merging the heady chemistry of thick raw textures and sweet heartfelt feelings from Shoegaze with clean Midwest Emo tones, to pack a bewitching, emotive heft.

The song slowly paces, led by plodding drums and springy warm bass pulses, through densely frazzled chunks of fuzz-laden guitar riffs, repetitive layers of glistening melodies, and sparse, spindly ‘brassy’ ringlets, towards a wistful, twinkly noodling drift alongside dreamy, vibrant female vocals gliding gently with aching longing.
