Jeshua is the straightforward nom de plume of Glasgow-based, Dundee-born Scottish musician and composer Joshua Gray, who got back into the groove, after an acclaimed debut in 2021, “Unreliable Narrator”, with the hushed languors of the hazily suffused and dreamy pop new single, “Innocent”, wrapped in an organic, warming bittersweet ambience.
With subtle nods to the soothing and nostalgic The Radio Dept. and Beach Fossils, the song deals with a person who finds another’s innocence unique and charming.
“Innocent” unfurls a swaying vibrant lacework of light tinny guitar strums and insistent wistful dappling melodies, lilted by the racing heartbeat of slightly skipping drum beats and swelling bass pulses, that chime and ripple, swathed by the emotive comforting glow of lush cello strings, around heartfelt, vulnerable, soft vocals, longing in breathy, angsty loving sentiments.
