WL//WH Track Of The Day JAUS
Following the debut EP “Liars” in 2022, the Mexico City-based Shoegaze unit JAUS, made up of founding members Emilio Enríquez (Guitar/ Voice) and Rodrigo Guevara (Bass and arrangements), along with Ulises Garnica (Lead Guitar), and Carlos Márquez (Drums), augmented by Giovani Carrillo on Synthesizers, are back in the fold with a new single, “Lies”, an intriguing foretaste from Jaus’ upcoming debut album.
Inspired by bands such as The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Cure, DIIV, Ride, and Nothing, the Mexican band blends, through immersive emotionally charged noisy undulations of dreamy introspections and noisy electric dizziness, a heady nuanced mesh-up of moody Post Punk, gritty Grunge, mind-bending Psychedelia and hazy Shoegaze atmospherics with a distinctive melodic sensibility.
With lyrics full of sensuality and mystery, the song explores the shades of temptation and how it takes control of a person’s thoughts and sentiments.
Ceaseless heavily sonorous, shuffling drum beats and deep, broody basslines feed the dynamic roiling gut for vibrant stirring layers of ghostly synth washes along sizzling and searing reverberating guitar distortion, pulsing hopelessly together with achingly expressive vocals, tormented by temptation, that struggle and then fall beneath a sweeping bedazzling cacophony of out-of-control emotions.
