WL//WH Track Of The Day INCIRRINA
Athens-based duo Incirrina, made of talented musicians Irini Tini (synthesizers, vocals), and George Katsanos (synthesizers, drum machine, vocals), struck us right away from their outset, since Mike was impressed by the ‘glorious’ Greek capital’s performance at Death Disco with the other brilliant act and later labelmates Kalte Nacht, due to their powerful, emotional, evocative and at the same time melodic and minimal style, finely nestled among the dark, cold, and wave synth-driven spectrum.
Many things have happened in the meantime, a couple of studio albums, the affiliation with Cold Transmission Music, and the acclaimed last participation at the recent Leipzig‘s Wave Gotik Treffen.

The band’s late 2018 debut “8.15” EP was definitely one of the most notable releases of that time, with the whole lyrics rooted in the romantic poetry of William Blake, before Incirrina’s longstanding collaboration with fellow poet Konstantinos Londos.
Suggested by label boss Andreas Hermann, the pair churns out a rearranged, powerful version of the moody, atmospheric original “The Smile” lifted from that first release, as to reflect how it has been played in their live sets.
“Only One Smile Alone” unleashes relentless thumping drum patterns, sparse clattering hits, pumping, chugging bass lines and a swirling twine of resonant forlorn keys and shivering, wistful synth flows around bewitching female vocals, swaying from soft spoken words to mean anger and then triumphant falling cries, to challenge the duality between authenticity and deceit, appearance and reality, with the strength of a “Smile.”
Keep up with Incirrina:
