Track Of The Day Human Figures
Born at the end of 2020 in Louisville, Kentucky, Dead Channel Records, the DIY ‘Renegade Electronics’ tape label run by Brian Drabant AKA Monger, is making itself known for an unorthodox and leftfield rich proposal spanning from twisted electro, harsh EBM, crunchy acidic breakbeat to alienating wave, barren, rusted industrial and broken techno.
Consequently, the Tennesse-based Electronic music artist /DJ /multi-instrumentalist and Ardetha Records owner, Daniel Holt, couldn’t find a more suitable home, after an extensive wandering through renowned imprints such as L.I.E.S., The Black Lodge, Frigio Records, Marguerite Records and Popnihil just to name a few, for his immersive and gripping exploration of Coldwave, Post-Punk, and Minimal Electronics realms under his Human Figures moniker.
The first hypnotic and minimal Post-punk jam, “Breaking Free”, taken from the upcoming album, “Tabula Rasa”, unleashes relentless, taut, and clinical snare drum rhythms that intersect with an elastic, chunky, Daniel J-like bassline, somberly mumbling and resonating, with sinuous syncopated ripples, cut through by the brooding chilliness of obsessive, angular and shimmering guitar sliver reiterations, whilst weak, emotional vocalizations rise and fall in muffled torturous laments of mournful pain.
Human Figures‘ forthcoming album, “Tabula Rasa”, is scheduled to be released, on Limited Cassette and Digital, on January 28 via Dead Channel Records. Not to be missed!
