The Estonian five-piece from Tallinn, Holy Motors already grabbed my attention a couple of years ago, not only for having the same name of a beautiful movie from the visionary French director Leo Carax, but also for the intriguing very promising debut single ‘Heavenly Creatures’, coincidentally a title of a great film again.
Now they’re back with the absolutely compelling first preview, from the forthcoming long-awaited debut album ‘Slow Sundown’ out next February on Wharf Cat Records, titled ‘Honeymooning‘, an intense and cinematic psychedelic affair where the beguiling, wistful female vocals combines perfectly with the slide guitars in building a gloomy and evocative atmosphere with streaks of melancholy and misery not far from the dusty desert space filled with loneliness painted by the guitar of Ray Cooder and the hazy, gauzy lisergic dissertations of Paisley Underground bands like Opal and later Mazzy Star.
Another amazing breakthrough for a steadily increasing band…if this is the first frame, we can’t wait to watch the whole movie.
Keep up with Holy Motors :
