One of those bands we have been following closely since its early beginnings, Strasbourg-based, French three-piece Heimberg pursues their creative vein in the revitalization of the cold and dark 80s post-punk mystique with the visceral and electrifying new single “Shadowed Guard”, the first foretaste from the actual debut album due sometime in 2025 via Icy Cold Records, after last year’s collection of Heimberg‘s first two EPs.
“The track explores themes of vulnerability and the desire to help someone who is struggling. The speaker is empathetic, watching and waiting for the other person to open up while acknowledging their shared struggles.”
After silently watching a sick loved one become weak, a person reaches out with genuine concern, striving on the vibrant stern foundation of an incessant slashing drum programming along with gritty basslines of jarring droning intensity, while trembling sparkling guitars achingly resonate, blazing and razor-sharp, with obsessive piercing agony against growling vocals, overflowing with restrained earnest bitterness, to snarl and rise into an emotional howl.
