Track Of The Day GUEST DIRECTORS
After last year’s brilliant debut album “Interference Patterns,” “Keep a Fresh Eye” is the new single and first release of 2024 from the Seattle-based multifaceted guitar rock outfit led by veteran guitarist and former member of late 80s/90s grungers Tad Gary Thorstensen together with guitarist/vocalist Julie D, formerly of the mid-90s San Diego math rockers Chinchilla and punk band Drip Tank, drummer Rian Turner and bassist Charles Russo.
The band conceives a heady fusion of Shoegaze, Indie Rock, Power Pop and Psychedelia, coloured by the rich, groovy, crystal-clear tone of Jazzmaster guitars drenched in reverb and laced with captivating vocal harmonies.
“Keep a Fresh Eye” says it’s never too late to turn around and leave the inverted world stage that is presented to us.
Steady urgent drums and warm pulsing basslines drive both caressing and abrasive layers of quick swiping glowing riffs laced with high-pitched searing melancholy, winding around an intoxicating dual vocal interplay of soulful angst and impassioned broods to evoke hope amid tragedy.
The colorful animated video that accompanies “Keep a Fresh Eye” shows how watching a screen full of cartoon or computer-generated illustrations can shape a person’s perception of themself and the world at large.
