WL//WH Track Of The Day: GLASSZONE “Nightwalk”

Track Of The Day  Glasszone

We featured the French DIY solo project from Orleans, Glasszone, in its early days of the debut 6-track mini-album “Architecture of Life” at the start of 2018, with his sullen and autumnal bass-driven sound that hearkens back to the 80’s coldwave and post-punk with a gothic twist, walking down the atmospheric, introspective and shadowy line drawn by Echo & The Bunnymen, The Church, Love & Rockets, Lowlife and to remain in his homeland, Mary Goes Round, increasingly wrapped in subtly coarse, magnetic layers of textured sandpaper shoegaze tones.

After an impressive, male/female dual vocal lead, single “Under the Streetlights” at the very end of 2020, the Frenchman is back in the New Year with his latest song “Nightwalk”, not on the sharing platforms, from the upcoming album “Moments” due on May 2nd 2021.

An ominous tight intro glides into metronomic synthetic beats to fuel a captivating achingly melodic bass line, dripping with solemn melancholy, sinuously pulsing in helpless abandon, dimly lit by a sizzling bed of reverb-drenched abrasive distortion, together with soft detached male vocals, brooding restlessly, cloaked with fear and anxiety, in a desolate, sad ‘night walk’, haunted by a solitude of memories.
