Track Of The Day French Police
From the artistically lively Latino community of Chicago comes the 4-piece French Police with already a promising self/titled album under their belt released exactly on the first day of the year.
The band, made of Brian & Jesse Flores, Jose Vega and Kevin Peralta, return with 5-track EP “Pedaleo Nocturno” marked by an improved tighter and cleaner quality of their moody, brooding and murky, clearly 80s UK indebted, firstly The Cure, melodic post-punk sound consisting of bouncing and sinuous bass, shimmering sombre soaring guitars, pounding drums and desolate dreamy vocals.
Simultaneously energetic and atmospheric, “Je Te Veux”, with “Clock Man” a deadly one-two intro of the EP, is an intoxicating melancholic slice of post-punk based around punchy repetitive drumbeats propelling helplessly melodic, consistently chugging, dense bass line laced with an intricate web of sparkling, wistful jangly guitar melodies that ebb and flow, sparsely awash by subtle deep glassy waves of synth, over subdued, fragile, sensual vocals, smothered in an eerie haze of uneasy impending failure, brimming with bashful and embarrassed longing, love and desire.
Anything new, but fresh and damn infectious dark sound from the DIY underground, check it out!.
