Split between Lyon and Berlin, Efsun Efsun (Sorceress Sorceress) is an experimental electro project from the hearts and minds of Yaren and Johann formed on the slopes of Lyon in the summer of 2023, blending minimalist Turkish poetry with experimental and danceable electronic sounds.
The duo just released on Bandcamp their eclectic debut 3-track EP, “Arazi Farzi”, led by the vibrant retro bass-driven Synth-Pop-Wave title track, which uses metaphysical poetry to explore intimacy and passion.
“Arazi Farazi” bounces relentlessly through the rumbling and clattering drive of buzzy pumping bass loops alongside snappy, skipping drum programming, arcade FXS, squelching drones and eerie warping synth swells over urgent, choppy spoken words, struggling not to release the tension.
The EP then veers effortlessly from the hypnotizing, equally danceable, concoction of acidic bass-throbbing grooves, punchy, metronomic snares, obsessive twisting synth wanders, and unemotional spoken words, layered with alluring half-whispered vocals of “Hala”, to the immersive, subtly strained, abstract ambience of the glitchy and bleepy, IDM-tinged “Zuffallszentrum”.
