Track Of The Day DRØME
Freshly affiliated with The City Gates‘ label Velouria Recordz, DRØME started in 2021 as the Indietronica solo project of Quebecois musician and composer F. Dupouy, ‘mixing ambient electro music with some reverberated guitars’, joined in 2023, when he moved to the dynamic music scene of Montreal, by bassist/keyboardist P. Lamanque.
Gradually incorporating moody Post Punk undertones and hazy, vibrant, at times noisy, Shoegaze textures, the duo’s atmospheric guitar-laden sound conjures up oneiric ghostly introspections and haunting obscure visions where reality and dreams mesh and blur.
Infused with a lush, thick and delay-laced guitar work reminiscent of The Edge’s “Unforgettable Fire” period, “Depression Dance” is the first teaser lifted from the forthcoming second EP “Echoes Within”, to be released on October 4th, a song about the fear of fading light and impending darkness that one gets when battling depression.
Steady hypnotic rhythmic patterns drive a serpentine humming bassline pulsing below ceaselessly sizzling and flickering hallucinatory sheets cast by effect-laden shimmery guitar intricacy, layered with a high-pitched rambling of spindly wailing licks, screechy string-squeals, and brief bursts of restrained feedback, to achingly resonate and dance alongside melancholic vocals, falling hopeless under the gloomy grey mists.
DRØME‘s upcoming second EP “Echoes Within” is due out, on Ltd. Vinyl 12″ LP & Digital, via Velouria Recordz on October 4th.
