In the wake of a sparse single production since 2020, the Netherlands-based Dark Wave duo Dort. resume, after a 2-year hiatus, their ongoing introspective journey through a mix of modern danceable Synth-Pop and 80s-inflected New Wave stylings, built on infectious, straightforward beat-driven high-energy and emotional, swirling bass/guitar/synth instrumentation, topped with a soaring, heartfelt vocal delivery.
The new single, “Shift Your Gaze,” talks about using your inner sight to look deeper at things, from different angles, to see what is unseen or what is left out of the story.
Propelled by buzzing, throbbing bass loops along with crisp, steady drum programming, the rousing and soul-stirring “Shift Your Gaze” bounces passionately upwards and downwards, carved by obsessive, achingly lancinating, twinkling guitar stabs and dramatic synth sweeps, to surround sullen, brooding female vocals, veering to vibrant, heartfelt energy to inspire thought and intuition.
