WL//WH Track Of The Day: DIRISHU6 “Requiem”

WL//WH Track Of The Day  dirishu6

Formed in 2017, the Dijon, France Indie three piece dirishu6, made of Thai-Binh Phan-Van (Bass), Quentin Masanet (Drums) and Olivier Dumont (Guitar /Vocals), who we have gladly hosted a couple of times in the past years, are finally down to the wire of releasing their anticipated debut album “Gasp” via Toulouse‘s DIY label Hidden Bay Records.

Deftly combining their Slowcore, Shoegaze and Dream-Pop leanings, the band excellently craft an enveloping and atmospheric, dizzying whirlwind of effect-filled, lush crystal-clear guitar flourishes, loud, immersive distorted textures, dreamy vocalizations, and driving rhythms, where gleaming lights and dim shadows seamlessly harmonize and interplay.

One of two previews, with the noisy 6-string-swollen “Collapsus”, the early Beach Fossils-tinged “Requiem” brightly bounces over urgent drums alongside wriggling and humming bass lines, fuelling a free-flowing wandering, spritely bristling with intoxicating, sharp guitar melodies to radiate lithe, echoing bittersweet melodies around reflective, passionate vocals, effortlessly weaving between gushing, breathy devotion and distant, high cries, before emerging with an elated vibrancy.
