With the recent release of the second single by the new Houston, Texas-based outfit Tincture, it crossed my mind Daniel Gaona and his solo “Ethereal Goth Music” project Day Disguise, we featured a couple of times, stacked on hiatus since the questionable quarantine days.
Even if, to be precise, he released a single last summer, titled “Lover,” as the guitarist and pedal steel player of the dark Dream Pop trio Monochrome Lover, we highlighted at the time.
Almost as if I had summoned him from the shades, here is the first excerpt from the upcoming album “Eclipse”, “a collection of previously released singles, some dark ambient songs written over the past few years, and some newer songs written in 2024” split in two parts: Ethereal Goth Music and Dark Ambient Moods & Textures
“Clouds Pass” take us on a moody, introspective, atmospheric journey through ghostly vibrant layers of textured Shoegaze wall of sound, sonically expanding into an ecstatically poignant and droningly oneiric enveloping of the senses.
Resonant wistful guitar chords insistently ripple on shuffling percussions, cloaked in lingering shadows from the past, to be swept away by a both lush and droning, emotionally charged fuzz-laced flow, washing over gloomy, heartfelt vocals, hardly audible through the mist, to radiate glimmers of yearning and hope.
Day Disguise’s album, “Eclipse,” is scheduled to be released digitally on February 14, 2025.
