WL//WH Track Of The Day: DAWN HAZE “Days”

Track Of The Day  Dawn Haze

Hailing Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexican two-piece DAWN HAZE play an endearing mix of shoegaze and dream-pop, with more than a post-punk twist between the lines.

An engaging and profoundly emotional guitar-driven sound steeped in intense dreamy melancholy, wavering on the edge on dark and light, undoubtedly familiar, swelled with 80’s nostalgic charm, which inescapably keeps on, if crafted, as in this case, with freshness and melodic flair, to stuck in your head.

Following the last year’s home-recorded 5-track EP “Only Shallow”, with nods to Slowdive, Arctic Monkeys, The Cure, Her’s, My Bloody Valentine, the duo is back with a darker and introspective new single “Days”, certainly their best so far, propelled by incessant bouncy mechanical beats, interspersed by sparse, quick crackling claps, that pulse together with a nimble and snaking, bleak post-punk bassline, creased by sparkling guitar lines in perpetual wistful fluctuation over sad, detached male vocals stuck in a limbo of numb anxiety and distant longings, worn into the relentless distress of uncertainty, lit by a flashing flurry of synth-infused cold desolation.
