WL//WH Track Of The Day: DANCING STRANGERS “Speak In The Dark (feat. J.ZUNZ)”

Track Of The Day  Dancing Strangers

DANCING STRANGERS, the musical project founded in 2009 by Richard Rex and Eric Curiel, hailing from the border cities of Tijuana and San Diego, make their 2025 debut with the new single “Speak In The Dark,” featuring the imaginative Electronic Post-Punk solo artist as well as one half of longtime Mexican Psychedelic / Shoegaze act Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, Lorena Quintanilla, a.k.a. J.ZUNZ, to provide further strains of intrigue and allure to Dancing Strangers’ experimental take on the most minimal and obscure fringes of 80s-inspired Dark Wave and Post Punk.

About how one person’s selfish, delusional words and actions undermine another’s ability to observe, think, and act according to the truth, the song, produced by Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, draws on pioneering Numan/Foxx’s cold, alienated, and futuristic synthetic tones.

A stark and robotic drum machine clinically compels a lashing march alongside corrugated, lightly squelchy low ends, swept by austere seesaw layers of enveloping melancholic synths, interlaid with achingly resonant, crisp guitar chords, setting down a dense shadowed haze of desolation, to surround a distorted, suggestive male-female vocal interplay, blending stern, steadily spoken words with dreamy, flattering echoes and tragic, exaggerated screams, lost in a hopeless world of deception and lies.
