WL//WH Track Of The Day : CRUEL REFLECTIONS “Lonely People”

Track Of The Day CRUEL REFLECTIONS

A taste of ‘ the sound of the modern 80’s’ couldn’t be better defined the music of Cruel Reflections.

The Los Angeles‘ power trio has just released, soon also on cassette via Wiener Records, its debut full-length “One Year”, probably by referring to the band’s first year of life, an impressive whirlwind of gloomy, fresh, dense and melodic, late-70’s and early-80’s influenced, post-punk with new wave and even some Pixies undertones.

I picked “Lonely People”, about ‘a forever lost’ love with ‘no tomorrow’, driven by cold, mechanical, synchopathed bass/drums rhythms, and deepened by a stunning commanding emotional voice and sharp and melodic guitar lines, just a sample of an astonishingly well written, played and produced debut full of minimal and poignant great songs that deserve all your attention and will blow you away.
