The Indonesian four piece band Crayon Cats, based in Jakarta, part away the jittery shards of noise from last month’s brilliant debut EP “Songs About You!”, letting it subtly buzz on a loop in the background, to explore through the new single, “Cloud Over You”, the bubbly jangly twee pop side of their, not less captivating, nuanced sound spectrum.
The tune, about a lost soul who makes it through the loneliness and repetition of a dull life by remembering a special loved one, triggers brisk, bouncy drum beats, nimble bass lines and wandering sparkling, at times piercing and strident, guitar melodies, that emotionally echo sweet, dreamy melancholic vocal longing.
