Corto Malaise is a French duo who delivers an electrifying ‘stupid and mean’ Gothy Synth-Punk sound with pangs of Electroclash and Coldwave, that strikes a fair balance between haunting atmospherics and dance-heavy energy, loaded with rippling tension, angst and anger.
The Nantes/Paris two-piece’s latest single, “Je suis Gothique et je t’emmerde” (something like “I’m Goth and I screw you”), their fifth since May 2025, explains the life of a child of darkness through the lens of alienation, melancholy, sensitivity, and pain.

Resonant snappy snares crack urgently with rumbling bouncy bass lines, topped by glaring, swirling synth edges, swelling and stretching desolately along with moody male vocals that switch between tough, brooding rants and sad, emotional aching, amidst ghostly, taunting female echoes and riled-up grunts.
