Track Of The Day CORBEAU HANGS
After the Summer break, the strictly DIY Athenian label Dystatik run by Dry_Feel returns with a couple of cassette releases: the second volume of the Synth Compilation and a 4-track Split EP between US act Corbeau Hangs and Italian Gothic Darkwave Polina Suffer.
Hailing from the hellholes of Phoenix, Arizona, the two pieces Corbeau Hangs have forged a raw yet evocative and compelling modern nuanced Darkwave sound, seamlessly laced with ’80s gloomy post-punk/wave nostalgia, as the last year’s well-received debut album “Optograms”, deftly embodied.
The first preview in the Spanish language, “Un Habitante Sin Calor”, a title epitomised by restless haunted vocals wandering through the cold, waste night on the ceaseless bounce of elastic, sonorous, moody bassline and tight urgent drumming, encircled by uncanny spirals of synth melancholy and distorted wailing guitar licks, to conjure profound aching melancholy.
Have a close listen to the other teaser by Turin-based unit Tommaso Leporale and Beatrice Bartolini, aka Polina Suffer with a jittery, compulsive and creepy Minimal Synth cut named “Horror News”, featuring Guatemala City‘s musician Obsolencia Programada.
