There seems to be an abundance, in the recent weeks, of shrouding, billowing, and surging cold synth permeated with 80s new wave vibes, there are those like Spunsugar that combine dreamy vocals, others such as Dead Astronauts seductive dual inflexions, Screensaver spice the whole with vibrant Siouxsie-like vocalizations, or instead Control Room, who darken the dizzying radiant atmosphere with brooding baritone gravel.
Hattiesburg, Mississippi synth-driven duo Control Room have just dropped the first preview, “We’ve Been Here Before”, from the upcoming new 4-track EP “OPTIONS” due to be released on February 5, 2021 via Cold Transmission Music.
Propelled by booming tight rhythms and droning bouncy basslines, lit by a hazy whirlwind of epic bright chords and wistful skyscraping synth lines that expand and contract relentlessly and ultimately sizzle atop of cold, haunted male vocals seep frustrated anxiety and sorrow into the stifling waves of disillusioned pain.
A compelling, even highly danceable, dazzling synth wave number.
Control Room’s upcoming new EP “Options” is up for preorder on Cold Transmission Music.
