Track Of The Day CONTRE SOIRÉE
Paris-based musician, producer, and live artist Olivier Decodts introduces the first excerpt, “21 Forever,” from his solo project Contre Soirée‘s forthcoming debut full-length via Icy Cold Records.
The Frenchman delves into the haunting, disturbing inner turmoil of an instinctual, stripped-down brand of 80s-influenced Goth Post-punk sound, as in the less electronically charged new single, about slowing down to look around, rather than running to be number one, through a lens of joy, eternity, and hope.
“21 Forever” lays down a sonorous, bleak meandering bassline, alongside a metronomic drum machine, as the driving backbone for poignant epic strains of obsessively jagged, plaintive guitars, and uncanny epic flares of dramatic synths atop sulky baritone vocals, sending forth stoical calm strength.
