WL//WH Track Of The Day: CIGARETTES FOR BREAKFAST “Melting”

WL//WH Track Of The Day  CIGARETTES FOR BREAKFAST

Following the acoustic “Swallowed alive” we premiered at the start of December, “Melting” is Cigarettes for Breakfast’s second single, released in full, “best of”, holiday time, taken from the forthcoming 7-track EP “Colour Wheel”, due on March 24, 2026.

The Philadelphia-based band led by musician & composer Matt Whiteford keeps on meticulously skirting the best bits of the early ’90s dream pop/shoegaze elements, flecked with an immersive psychedelic flair and emotional catchy tunefulness, beautifully wrapped in a sparkling reverberated veneer.

In “Melting”, fluid shuffling drumming along with warm, snaking bass lines propel shimmering coats of fuzzy distortion over wistful, mellow vocals, sounding smoothly choppy and muffled inside a vibrant, kaleidoscopic high effect-filled guitar vortex, to convey letting go and melting into change, rather than fighting it.
