WL//WH Track Of The Day: CHATHAM RISE “Here She Comes”

Track Of The Day Chatham Rise

Since the second decade of the 00s, the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based collective Chatham Rise meticulously crafts ecstatic and atmospheric sublime sound textures, toeing the line between Shoegaze, Psychedelia and Space Rock with strains of British Post-punk/New Wave and Madchester Sound, in an all-pervading concoction of transfixing shimmery swirling distortion, dazzling heavenward escapism, and bittersweet, ethereal harmonies.

The band has returned this year, after a long absence, with two singles as a foreshadowing of the upcoming Chatham Rise’s third album, “Trillium”, the latest of which, “Here She Comes”, featuring the guest guitar from Josh Richardson, is a song about a girl infiltrating another’s thoughts.

A sinuously groovy and resonant driven fuzzed-out bassline, underlaid by hypnotic lilting drumming, swells and pulses loose-limbed, to arouse an enveloping sensorial and deeply visionary vortex, awash with wafting, iridescent and expanding guitar flows, layered with ghostly shimmery keyboard tones, in which dreamy yet angsty vocals fall through, whilst spiraling relentlessly into an intoxicating haze of lysergic trance.

Keep up with Chatham Rise:
