WL//WH Track Of The Day: BLANCHE BIAU “With Roses You Say Goodbye”

Track Of The Day  Blanche Biau

We have been following Blanche Biau, the solo project from Zurich, since the early days before the debut album “Maraudé”, released at the end of 2021, and later remastered, and finally, after a series of cover versions, some collaborations, and live gigs around Europe, here we are with the long-awaited forthcoming sophomore 10-song studio album, “Heartcore,” scheduled for July 16th, heralded by its opening track, “With Roses You Say Goodbye,” a deeply downhearted song about the pain felt when saying goodbye.

Channelling ’80s Wave and Post-punk gloomy and atmospheric edges, textured with shimmering shoegaze mists, the Swiss artist merges echoing guitars, moody basslines, and cold enveloping synthesisers with the heartbeats of drum machines and haunting, reverberant vocals, to create her distinctive, both somber and introspective, dream-soaked sound space, steering us through murky, shadowy mazes of the soul.

“With Roses You Say Goodbye” provokes steady thudding drum patterns to punctuate a muffled yet droning fuzzy haze that relentlessly flows through the forlorn, spindly spirals of a sorrow swallowing synth chasm, trembling hopelessly over vibrant heartbroken vocals, layered with drifting echoes, doused in their sadness, to radiate and call out to lost, ghostlike responses that say “I’ll wait for you.”.

Blanche Biau‘s upcoming second album is slated for release, in Vinyl 12″ & Digital formats, on July 16, 2025, via Young & Cold Records.
