The debut album from Balvanera, the Argentinian duo based out of Buenos Aires, titled “Delusion/Desire”, on Rosario’s label Brutal Dogma certainly stands out among last months releases, with its brilliant blend of plaintive darkwave, frozen yet warm minimal-electronics, disaffected atmospheric coldwave and thrusts of Electronic Body Music.
Unfortunately, for one reason or another, I didn’t find the time to talk about it, time has come to make amend.
“Compression (The Absent)” is driven by pulsating hypnotic synth, slightly EBM-undertones and whipped danceable rhythms. The haunted vocals as in the best coldwave mood are detached, disappointed, with little anger, soon surrounded by swathes of magnificent gloomy and icey synth lines. Complaining about her life being incomplete, waiting for something to change, but in the end just wants crates outside. The music and words dance together to form a mesmerizing and dazed feel to fully immerse your entire being into.
“Delusion/Desire” is a debut of mature craftsmanship, suberb dark cold synth sounds and and seductive vocals, there’s much to enjoy from start to finish.
Keep up with Balvanera :
