Track Of The Day Backwards Charm
Split between Salzburg and Vienna, Austrian indie / dream-pop 4-piece Backwards Charm, comprised of Thomas Bauer (Drums), Martin Teutsch (Bass), Thomas Hofer (Guitar), and Daniel Lang (Vocals / Guitar), had made quite an impression a couple of years ago through their debut LP “Far from Heaven in my Mind”, on Schall & Wahn Productions and Stray Records, with an at the same time dazzling and gripping, as it is atmospheric and catchy, brand of dreampop peppered with dizzying nuanced guitar work that shimmer, burst and weave with a solid and vigorous rhythm section and heartfelt emotional vocals.
The first tease from forthcoming sophomore album “Nevergreen”, to be released in August 14th 2020 via Somewherecold Records, iwishicouldstay & Stray Records, is titled “In Shroud”, a daunting delve into life’s struggling moments, falling hopelessly into a shivering cold embrace.
Bright ethereal somber undulating guitar melodies, backed by solid punchy rhythms, twinkle then tightly soar, chime, back and forth, and finally wail, laced with profound melancholy and severe desolation, over gentle trembling vocals brood dire discomfort in a fearful introspection, riddled in fatalist dreams.
Jason, from the excellent Somewherecold Records label, affirms that the album will unfold in all its brilliance over the following months, you can trust him.
