WL//WH Track Of The Day : ANNADYNE “Anymore”

Track Of The Day

Annadyne, a duo from the deserts of Phoenix, AZ, is another band clearly influenced by the ‘usual suspects’ of Cocteau Twins and The Cure, able to craft intriguing and deliciously enchanting hazy, shoegaze-tinged, dreampop atmospheres, slightly upset by disturbing post-punk undertones, in a bewitching combination of deep emotional intensity.

Came together in late 2000, Fuchsia & Jon recorded 6 songs few years later, recently after a long hiatus are back on track with a string of excellent singles and a Cocteau Twins cover.

“Anymore” is an endearing and seductive interweaving of driving pulsating post-punkish bass lines, precise beats and shimmering guitar chords, beautifully enhanced by Fuchsia’s childish angelic vocal in contrast with the jilted feeling of being cheated. Like a yellowed old photograph, Annadyne music makes the mind wandering through memories dipped in melancholia and nostalgia and landscapes suspended between dream and reality. Just the magic of pop.
