Alison Clancy is a polymath artist from Northern California who moved to New York to start a dynamic artistic endeavour, connecting the dots between the worlds of music, dance, film, photography, installation, and somatic study.
Equally eclectic and broad are the sound hues of Alison Clancy’s songwriting, spanning trip-hop, shoegaze, grunge, dark disco, and experimental ambient.
Co-written and co-produced with Stephen Masucci (The Lost Patrol) and engineered by Larry Alexander (David Bowie, Lou Reed, Diana Ross), “The Valley,” Alison Clancy‘s new and first single for the reactivated, legendary early 80s Californian pioneer label Independent Project Records, (Savage Republic, Camper Van Beethoven, For Against, Shiva Burlesque, and Red Temple Spirits, among many others), the older generation, like mine, will recall the unique handprinted letterpress cover artwork and packages, explores the discovery of self, fate, and the courage to carry on.

live at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
An eerie and ravishing musing that meanders on delicate yet passionate and stirring harmonies, rife with pent-up emotional intensity, loosely stitched on suggestive driving piano chords and backing ghostly guitar reverb, to find its immaculate and visceral means of expression in Alison‘s versatile vocal delivery.
“The Valley” unfurls from an atmospheric, spectral backdrop reflecting arcane, willowy slide guitar echoes alongside spindly trembling synth strings, to arise minimal insistent phrases of a melancholic piano, layered vivid cascading rolling keys and abysmal resonant notes, augmenting the mesmeric unravelling of misty, droning zephyrs of aching nostalgia, whilst vibrant airy, gentle yet powerful vocal energies, breaking through a harsh, breathy crust, to emit rivulets of trembling fear mixed with steadfast devotion.
