After many years of playing synth for bands, soon on tour with Bestial Mouth and Soft Vein, the Bordeaux, France-based artist decided it was the right time to start his solo endeavour under the nom de plume of Alice Kean.
The though-provoking first single, “Half Dead”, about a vampire who needs to hold another in the shadows to relieve the guilt of sucking too much blood from them, strikes a fine balance between classic icy elegance and raw contemporary edge, clad in a stark and monochromatic coldwave aesthetic with moody post-punk undertones.
Mechanical lashing snare hits urge crisp, sonorously chugging guitar lines and shivering layers of forlorn synths, to swell over flat, dark baritone vocals, switching to wistful, painful longing, laced with a haughty streak.
