Track Of The Day Age Of Sleep
Compared by the label to the seemingly unlikely fusion, yet effective fine balance between brightness and gloom, ’80s Post-punk and Soviet Wave, of the “Goth-Surf” sound by Aussie doomer Desmond Doom, with the climate, time zone differences due, the mysterious Swedish lo-fi tascam recorded bedroom project Age Of Sleep drops his first, and seemingly last full-length album, “Hollow Night,” via Gothenburg independent label Inåt Bakåt.
One of the two, quite similar yet both captivating, sneak peek previews, “Close The Curtain,” a song about the curious and stirring intimacy of alone time, unwinds a steady pulsing foundation of tight off tempo beats and meandering post-punk basslines, below flurries of slightly buzzy shivering synths, interplaying with an obsessive wandering of melancholic sparkling guitar chords, to weave a web of obsessive poignant melancholy around moody vocals, shifting between gloom and angst amid bouts of elation.
Age Of Sleep‘s limited 10-track cassette will be released via Inåt Bakåt label on March 7, 2025.
