WL//WH Track Of The Day: ABANDONED BUILDINGS “Microdose”

Track Of The Day  ABANDONED BUILDINGS

Ceaselessly looking for some kind of sweet spot between Shoegaze, Psychedelia, and Indie Rock, sprinkled, as in this latest effort, with Folksy introspective parts and Post-Rock rising vibrato guitar tones, Abandoned Buildings is a five-piece guitar rock band, made of Andy Ramsden (drums & backing vocals), Ben Cleverley (guitars), John Maskrey (bass), Jonny Lee Hart (guitars & backing vocals), and Paul McNulty (guitars, synths & vocals), who like to make noise in a dilapidated old mill in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

The latest and penultimate single “Microdose”, which precedes Abandoned Buildings‘ proper debut studio album, “Eroding Light”, scheduled for September 13, 2024, is about a broken relationship with nowhere to hide.

After a brief reflective sparkling arpeggiated intro the urgent pace of sinuously rubbery, throbbing basslines and tight bouncy drumming propels a heady swirl of distortion-drenched riffs and agonising guitar bleeds, punctuated by one more reflective intermission, to wriggle, sizzle and soar along with softly sad vocals into an excruciating horizon of endless isolation.

Abandoned Buildings‘ forthcoming album, “Eroding Light”, anticipated the week before by the final single “Rabbit Holes”, will be released on September 13, 2024.
