WL//WH Track Of Day: MFK “Dust”

WL//WH Track Of Day  MFK
If The Clash raised the misbegotten lovechild of Bootsy Collins and Robert Smith,

This is how MFK, the newcomer noir rocker outfit from the North East of England, define their sinewy, high voltage sound, blending edgy, taut and fierce guitars with driving, infectious funk-laced bass grooves and urgent, dance-inducing percussions, charged with a spirited and assertive vocal delivery.

Making a name for themselves with a series of reckless and bulldozing live shows, including playing to a 5,000 strong crowd with The Wombats and Pale Waves, the Stoke-on-Trent four-piece’s new single “Dust” is

An ode to left behind towns. The places where, through no fault of their own, progress is frozen and even the most reasonable of dreams die on a bonfire of bin bags and old TVs. Where the only two sensible options are to either get out of your mind or start a band and kick back.

A dance-addictive slab of moody post-punk superimposed on compelling funk grooviness, churned by hard-hitting drumming and prominent, infectious bouncing bass lines, ceaselessly torn apart by barbed, scorching guitar riffs injecting reverberating wiry splinters around expressive vocals that hypnotize with vibrant, struggling emotions.

MFK‘s new single, “Dust,” will be part of the Wrongpop charity compilation album due out tomorrow on Bandcamp.

Keep up with MFK:
