WL//WH Review PARADOX OBSCUR
On August 30, the alternative electronic duo Paradox Obscur (GR) self-released their brand-new 4-track “ATTENTION” EP to celebrate their 10-year electronic extravaganza. Being active since 2014, Kriistal Ann, and Toxic Razor have graced the electronic music scene with outstanding records, often released by important labels, featuring consistently innovative ideas and studio performances.
“Anacrusis” LP (2015 – Peripheral Minimal Label), “Artifact” LP (2017 – Young and Cold Records), and “Morphogenesis” LP (2022 – Metropolis Records), are only a few of the releases in their catalogue that have left a permanent mark on the dedicated dancefloors and in the dark alternative front, expanding themselves towards new horizons and new directions all the time. This will never stop as the band steadily transforms into a different kind of precious musical creation. Over the past 10 years, they have embarked on an adventurous journey through the hazy paths of darkwave, creating incredible melodies and shocking songs. They have delved into life’s most terrible aspects and produced redeeming artistic results while maintaining a persistent focus on delivering quality that resonates with our ears and our souls.
Things have already shown that Paradox Obscur is in a long period of changes with the “Morphogenesis” LP (2022). Perhaps it was their last dark album, but in between, some very charming events have started to shine brightly; electro acid house techno and the new beat have blossomed into their songs, intensely, pointing the new path they have taken to express themselves… all with Kriistal Ann‘s commanding voice and Toxic Razor‘s “weird tricks”.
All these elements are more evident in the new “ATTENTION” EP, or if you want better, the couple goes through a channel of artistic “renaissance” of themselves. Dance music, club music, electro to techno, synthwave, all these given strictly but also ultra creatively in these 4 new tracks that are shining more lights on Paradox Obscur. “Attention”, “Slap It” (!!!), “Sin Barreras”, “Escape”…and repeat the same line while dancing. So, here is the new ammunition of Paradox Obscur, arm it and dance loud (and show them your love)!!!
P.S. They are going on tour in South America soon; here are the first dates!!! visit their site and check for further news (@resistenciabooking )
