WL//WH Review THE TEARLESS LIFE
On October 27 last year, The Tearless Life (UK) published their debut “Conversations With Angels” LP, and a month later the record was announced on CD by Other Voices Records (Russia). The name The Tearless Life has a rich history, and it’s associated with a wealth of fantastic music that was previously released under a different name. You’ll understand this legacy better if you search for Vukovar on their Bandcamp or thoroughly dig into our blog.
I’ll copy a few words now about the new moniker and their debut release as can be found on Bandcamp:
It represents the natural continuation, or perhaps the necessity, of things, with a new album featuring 11 new songs reflecting the band’s origins and necessary changes for the future. We’re discussing an incredible album – one that is profound in every way. It takes the essence of Deathpop and elevates it to Cultpop (a pun intended, but it’s serious business) by placing it on shiny yet dirty post-punk rails. Isn’t that a hallmark of post-punk treatment?
The album’s development and the way each track sounds might lead me to believe it is a concept album. This is because there are musical events that disrupt the flow of the album, and then the journey resumes smoothly afterward. I appreciate the dusty sweetness of their music, as well as the intensity of their ideas and performances throughout the album. I believe that these elements are purposefully crafted, though the underlying reason is not immediately obvious. Instead, it gradually reveals itself throughout the listening experience, like a ‘conspiracy’ unfolding slowly but steadily.
Other tracks that open different doors are “Everyone Is Ended” and “Frail Childer Of The Air”. Don’t be surprised; they are from the same album, showcasing the band’s versatility and the clear representation of their reality within their art. Then you can look at the other kaleidoscope through “Old Hospitals Dreaming Patients”, and “Opium-Eater” for more informative ‘explanations’. But I better not confuse you; The album is not merely a collection of songs; it is a cohesive work that has flow and ‘events’ designed to involve the listener, as it invites you on a journey of strange beauty.
Those of you familiar with the past, as I mentioned earlier, have a general idea of what to expect. For the rest of you, I believe you will find yourself creatively intrigued by various aspects of The Tearless Life. Additionally, I trust that the readers of WL//WH are well aware of our connection with the ‘superb curiosities’ that circulate out there, and you put up with us, fully aware of just how ‘shot’ we are sometimes always, yeah.
So, here is the debut “Conversations With Angels” LP by The Tearless Life, take care, and listen loud!!!
Keep up with The Tearless Life:
