WL//WH Review NOX NOVACULA
In the middle of the summer when the stones are bursting from the heat, and heatwaves running (almost) everywhere, Artoffact Records (Toronto) decided that now is the time to release the new album by Seattle‘s bats Nox Novacula. It was August 2, when “Feed The Fire” LP came to torture the sun and all the creatures… I had a good time with it (for sure) and I’m sitting now with the dust of this awesome record to tell you a few things about it.
You’ll need to crack open a cold beer (necessary) and you’ll also need to prepare for the following; to experience a technically perfect album, with a lot of groovy music, rock music, rock’n’roll that is, and all these from the American deathrock front.. and there are no questions here… the dark flag with the bones may be flying in many parts of the planet but the American bands of the genre are simply teaching it, with simple and understandable words – well, ladies and gents, deathrock rules!!!
One delightful torment from the album is “Flood” and it has an official video too, try it, and I’ll tell you a few more things after…
In the press text by Artoffact Records, you may find these fair words about the new album and I copy some of them here
I agree with all of these and I can also add to the palette a few more titles, “Cursed”, and “Revenge” because this is where a decent deathrock album must push you towards its end, and certainly “No Forgiveness”, and “Wolves” that can make you dance like no tomorrow. The entire new album is steeped in the principles of Deathrock, it’s got a lot of melodies, it’s aggressive, it’s addictive, it’s danceable, it’s sleazy and it’s also the new step forward for Nox Novacula and that’s maybe the most essential thing in the end.
I’m very glad that in the middle of the summer, they released this record threat, just thinking about their future ventures makes me feel excited but I don’t want to seem greedy, in the end, what counts most is their awesome effort this year and well, you’ll survive happily after the first listen, and you will also put it on repeat (summer needs such relentless joys).
So, beers and skeletons, and here is the new album “Feed The Fire” by Nox Novacula, show them your love (and listen loud)!!!
P.S. The band is about to start the US Summer Tour, tomorrow the first gig in Salt Lake City, check their social media for all the places and dates!!!
Nox Novacula‘s new album, “Feed The Fire”, is out now on Ltd. coloured/black Vinyl 12″ LP, CD and Digital formats via the band’s Bandcamp.
Keep up with Nox Novacula:
