WL//WH Review iNsCissors
In our brave world, prohibitions are common, if not mandatory. You will see the actual cover of this album further down in the article. Introducing iNsCissorS from Athens GR and their fifth long-play release “The Wordless God II (And Other Cinematic Rituals)” via FYC Records (August 28). The act comprises Vincent Andelmoth (Keyboards & Synths, Guitars, Bass, Zethir, Chimes, Soundscapes, Vocals), and Aima Lichtblau (Vocals/Vocal Lines, Chants, Overtone Harp, Chimes, Bells), featuring invoked apparitions by Evor Ameisie (Vocals / Chants on tracks II & VI), Angel Wolf Black (Vocals / Chants on track IX), and Andreas Ntroulias (Additional Guitars on track X). The music is composed, arranged, performed, and mixed by Vincent Andelmoth.
First, I’d like you to read the description of iNsCissorS on the new album, as found on Bandcamp and in the EPK.
The Earth was created in six days, by the word of God. Or so they say…then, what if no language were conceived and that God had no words to utter? Would then be no world to suffer the plight of humankind? Or is this just a scheme to test the extent of the innovative mindless destructive impulse we call intelligence?
Within “The Wordless God II” album lies a profound inner journey through the composer’s deepest quests and his musicians, creating a darkly cinematic work with captivating soundscapes, dark ambient music on the neo-classical frame, and the hollow core of the ritual ambient sounds and attitude. There are many advantages to iNScissorS’ music. Firstly, their musicianship is outstanding, perfectly capturing the essence of each track as they possess a deep understanding of music and their instruments (including the vocals), and each member is clearly dedicated to the artistic vision of the album. And then, all of this is composed of a connected whole in a complete manifesto. Many elements here are provocative, sometimes to the extent that the art itself allows it. There is no deconstruction here, but rather an enhancement of the redemptive environment of their music. Musically speaking, iNsCissors do not violate the lines and the norm of musical art. Instead, they push these boundaries as much as they desire within the confines of a ritual’s strictness.
And so, their music slowly and methodically reveals all its ingredients. Sometimes the darkness is thick, sometimes the atonement leaves you in awe, and other times their music sounds bigger than its initial seeding…and this not only requires talent to achieve but also a deep understanding (and knowledge) of the rules of music itself. I would describe this album as monstrous, pagan, and exquisite, all rolled into one, and to get a better idea please watch this film by John Santerineross (!!!) & Daikichi Amano (!!!) for the last song of the album, “人形師 The Doll Maker”.
John Santerineross, with his unique and characteristic neo-black symbolistic visions, has once again given shape to the album’s artwork, which Vincent Andelmoth then adapted to the concept. Here is “The Wordless God II (And Other Cinematic Rituals)” LP…Immerse yourself in this, and be part of the Ritual.
Keep up with iNsCissors:
