Earlier on September 6, Trouble In Mind Records (Chicago) published the brand-new album “Free Energy” by DUMMY (Los Angeles). I want to believe that this second LP of the group from L.A . will be the one that opens the way for them to more situations, let’s say…to the airports. “Free Energy” LP contains 12 new songs that are structured with their blend of sounds and musical styles, this lovely blend of psychedelia with trip-hop, shoegaze, and alt. rock, which are all infused with great inspiration, and with clarity into their music.
Don’t expect to hear any experimental chaos from a bunch of musicians who have all the music degrees out there and that is not enough for them to express themselves. Expect to listen to a very social, groovy, and danceable album by a group with clear intentions in every song they write. Also, expect a smile on your face for as long as their album plays on your stereo. “Nullspace” came out a couple of months ago, and started grooving…
All this freshness is evident on their record, as well as here in “Nine Clean Nails”, where I think someone in the band has been listening to some (many) Kraut records at home…and wait, there is a sequel in their party…
……because just when you think that everything is going well and that we are having a good time with everything, this “Blue Dada” (+ “Opaline Bubbletear”) comes that turns some things upside down – for the better, I would say – and you stay for one more drink… for sure!
The “Minus World” video came out two weeks ago, and they haven’t released any other video from their new album yet. It’s uncertain what will happen, but “Free Energy” LP has about 8-10 potential maxi singles.
It’s an adventurous new album, and it’s also a very ambitious release. Releasing 4 videos is a significant effort, and now, we find ourselves in this situation – a music group with a lot of passion, groove, and momentum, having just released a shiny new album, is eager to plan a big tour because they have a lot of faith in what they put out a few days ago. I believe that whatever good comes their way, they will make the most of it and basically, they will deserve it all. Isn’t it pretty obvious that I had a great time with the “Free Energy” LP by DUMMY? So, here’s this crazy album…and show them your love!!!
Keep up with DUMMY:
