WL//WH Premiere: VLIMMER “Aufbeißer” [Blackjack Illuminist Records]

WL//WH Premiere  VLIMMER

Berlin’s one-man band Vlimmer, the main moniker of the passionate genre-defying artist and Blackjack Illuminist label founder, Alexander Leonard Donat, heralds the new year with the new single “Aufbeißer, WL//WH is very pleased to premiere, taken from the yet untitled 6th full-length album due later this year.

The song deals with people desperately looking for a solution in times of constant disputes and fighting. At times, everything around you – may it be your personal life or the events outside your living room – seems to intensify beyond what people are able to cope with. Yet, strangely, our society seems to adapt to every new bad condition, which, in the end, might make it even worse. Because when a solution for conflicts can’t be offered anymore, what’s next? I’m not ready to accept what some people call ‘the new normal’.

“Aufbeißer” leans into Vlimmer’s equally ethereal and punchy synth-heavy facet, setting a tense yet loose sway of wonky, splashy beats and wobbly, brooding bass pulses, draped with almost orchestral, lush emotional blankets of swirling synthesizers, which hauntingly swarm, achingly chime and frighteningly stretch together with lost, softly suffering vocals, drifting, sad and nostalgic, towards an uncertain future.

Vlimmer‘s new digital/CD single “Aufbeißer” will be released tomorrow, February 6, 2026, with the cover of 2006‘s Peter, Bjorn and John indie pop classic, “Young Folks,” as a B-side, via Blackjack Illuminist Records Bandcamp.
