WL//WH is very pleased to premiere the track “Phoenix” (Part 1)”, taken from the enigmatic electronic producer The New Human‘s upcoming stunning album, “Proximity Mantra”, via the Glasgow-based independent label Bricolage.

‘The New Human’ isn’t afraid to wear his influences on his sleeve. Proudly incorporating the late 90’s/early 2000’s IDM methodology into his own techniques to create a curious blend of Ambient, Glitch and Twisted yet mellow Electronica.

The eight tracks on show here provide us with a myriad of ever-evolving and crunchy percussion. Beats that stretch, warp and turn. Each pattern waiting to uncoil and mangle into the next. Then there are the dark and deep basslines that provide the ideal backdrop for these shuffling and effervescent soundscapes. But it’s not all bass and complex beats. There’s a whole host of technicolour and expressive melodies in the quieter moments that allow ‘The New Human’ to showcase his knack for exploratory synth work. Glacial harmonics intertwine with classic IDM bleeps that succeed in carrying the tracks into evocative territory.

The album is rounded out with two remixes: Inverness-based producer, Beira, provides her own spiky and chaotic take on “Phoenix” before label boss, Fragile X, dissolves “Thought Patterns” into an ambient electronica journey to close out the release.

A stirring, off-kilter and moody blend of immersive ambience, fizzing glitch tones and wandering crisp broken percussive patterns, “Phoenix” (Part 1)”, unwinds a subtly crackling intricate rambling of insistent scattered, thudding kicks, amid a persistent mercurial smooth string of melancholic chiming synth melodies and scratchy glitchy frequencies, shifting to rolling punchy broken beats accelerating at varying paces, then slightly dissonant springy effects jaggedly distort the flow at different intervals, to hinder, but not halt, the vibrant emotive forward progression that will keep the listener entranced until the very end.

The New Human‘s upcoming 10-track album, “Proximity Mantra“, is scheduled for release, in Ltd. Cassette & Digital formats, on September 13, 2024, via the Bricolage Label Bandcamp.

As last 31st of August, Bricolage turned 9 years old, and to celebrate the label came up with a remix competition. The stems for “Thought Patterns”, the opening track, from the upcoming The New Human release are provided at this link.
