WL//WH PREMIERE SOULS IN BONDAGE
Today, March 6th, Sister 9 Recordings (Manchester, UK) releases the debut self-titled EP by Souls In Bondage, a bundle of 5 + 1 tracks showcasing the act’s musical explorations in an urban, industrial, and noisy style that is both catchy and absolutely groovy.
Souls in Bondage was established in Autumn 2025 by Simona Dellamorte (of Feralia Planitia and Atrate) and Giulio Pardi (of Bibo & Beyond), who share their time between the Netherlands and Italy. The brief period between the band’s formation and the release of their first record is clearly reflected in their music. They have incorporated many strong ideas with an obvious sense of freshness, all while maintaining a clear direction and purpose. You will read on the label’s Bandcamp page that…
These words convey deep observations about a world that, despite facing numerous challenges, also hides many opportunities for new ideas and plans for change (or destruction). There is a significant amount of passion in their work, reflecting a desire to escape and the act of dreaming. Their music revolves around two main elements: post-punk influences and the extensive use of sound walls created by guitars and synthesizers combined with vocals. Despite this complexity, they focus on crafting regular songs rather than a mere collection of experimental pieces. There is a distinct “regularity” in their work, and at times, their approach can be disarmingly merciless.
And yet, there are many melodies within this, along with cool vocals that narrate stories, a hidden psychedelia can be found inside, and there is also the machine that inspires it all. The machine is our world—this unjust world. To my ears, the debut release of Souls In Bondage is impressive as it is clear, loud, and beautiful—melding industrial music, post-punk (at times quite punk), dreamy noise rock, and groovy until the sun burns out.
There, I said it all, now press play and let it nail you, here we go!!!
