In anticipation of a rich European tour, Schedule 1, the Vancouver, British Columbia-based Oi! / Post Punk four piece, made of Grant (Vocals), Rob (Guitar), Alex (Bass), and Mitch (Drums), premieres the Official Video by Sean Shaul for “Travesty”, lifted from Schedule 1’s debut album “Crucible”, released last April, on Mendeku Diskak (Basque Country) and Council Records (Chicago).

The band delivers a vibrant, instinctive and emotional-ridden melodic sound that combines driving Punk’n’roll urgency and moody Post-punk strains layered with anthemic Oi! sensibilities, veering closer towards cold and dark, yet abrasive, landscapes.

“Travesty” explores the tension of being trapped in a safe situation that isn’t entirely fulfilling. It’s about questioning whether you should have taken a risk to break out, or if circumstances beyond your control have left you confined. As Canadians, we often look at our neighbours to the south with a mix of fear and admiration. Musically and lyrically, the song nods to some Canadian acts who faced difficulty being heard outside of our borders but ultimately carried this with notoriety.says Grant

High-energy rocking vibes fuel unyielding hard-hitting drum beats and thrumming bass pulses under ringing layers of frantic sharp-edged guitar melodies, while urgent restless vocals fret in dire doubt, amid burgeoning horizons of hope.

The cinematic visuals by Sean Shaul , Jalil Chaudry, and Prairie Coast Productions blend evocative clips of Schedule 1 performing “Travesty” with a mysterious backstory to sync with the psychology of the soundtrack. Bird’s-eye views of the traditional territories of the Coast Salish and Halkomelem-speaking peoples create a spooky rustic setting for a traumatized man who is lying in a field, unable to move. After being dragged inside a barn, a crude surgery reveals dark supernatural forces are at play. Then, for a thought-provoking finale we see the rescuer tattooing an occult symbol that matches his own, onto the troubled man’s hand.
