WL//WH Premiere: LOUSE’s Emotional Outpouring, “Joy in Pain”

WL//WH PREMIERE  LOUSE

Cincinnati, Ohio-based five-piece New Wave Punks Louse, made of Sam Souders (Vocals, Guitars, Keys), Danny Lovell (Bass), Connor Simpson (Guitars), Max Enslen (Keys), and Bradley Kennedy (Drums, Percussion), are at last getting ready to drop their long-awaited debut full-length album “Passions Like Tar”, scheduled for September 20, 2024, via Feel It Records.

Since their conception, Louse consistently delivers 80s era-correct, modulated, guitar-driven punk that is informed by bands like Killing Joke, Bauhaus, and Christian Death, but delivered with their uniquely coloured angular riffs and fevered, anguished vocals.

WL//WH is pleased to premiere the second LP excerpt “Joy in Pain”.

This was the first song written for the record and is pretty much the antithesis of a lot of the other tracks: simple punchy and to the point. It still keeps a cohesive feeling, however. It breaks from its aggressive couch guitar downstrokes to an arpeggiated motif accompanied by synth and pitch-shifted guitars. Something that’s more indicative of the overall feel of the recordsays Daniel Lovell

Infused with hints of crackling Television-like 6-string tones and alluring Morrison-esque vocal delivery, “Joy in Pain” builds a rich, swaying and flowing tapestry of driving drum beats, snaky pulsing bass lines, sizzling groovy guitar riffs, and lush sparkling arpeggios, alongside mesmerising mercurial synth melodies, to wash wistful, deeply emotional vocals with warm sentiments of nostalgia, hope, and longing.

Louse‘s forthcoming debut album, “Passions Like Tar”, will be released, in Ltd. Vinyl 12″ LP / CD & Digital formats, via Feel It Records on September 20, 2024.

Keep up with Louse:
