WL//WH Premiere JËAN FiXX
Jëan Fixx, the moniker of the A Coruña, Spain-based multimedia Electronic DJ, musician, and producer Félix Fernández, returns to WL//WH with a premiere of “Virtual Body Language”, taken from the new 4-track EP “Circa” out now via fellow Galician label DICTRL.
The Latin-derived preposition CIRCA is often used in scientific bibliography, historical documents, or genealogies to pinpoint an event’s timeframe, estimating when it may have occurred in human history. With this title, Jëan Fixx’s new work aims to transport us to an indeterminate time where the relationship between humans and technology is so close that the virtual and real worlds can no longer be distinguished.
“Virtual Body Language” delves into the logic of virtual representation and its ability to evoke forms that lead us to other worlds and other bodies.
An entrancing metaphysical electronic ride unfurls with vibrant glassy and swooshing mists, hypnotic, light thudding drum kicks, and deep palpitating, droning bass loops, swirling in sentient frequencies with arcane fills of crisp, hollow percussions, while faint vocal clips fade in and out of awareness. Then, at 3:46, a shift into another mesmerizing dimension where a drowsy baritone yawn barely breaks through a more crystalline and transfixing edge of your seat rising tension, lifting into a clearing of “Virtual Body Language” sensation.
