WL//WH Premiere: FIR CONE CHILDREN give up “No Mercy” to be heard

WL//WH Premiere  Fir Cone Children

According to the aim to drop annually a Fir Cone Children album dedicated to the lives of his two young daughters, Berlin-based DIY polyhedric and hyper-active artist Alexander Donat (aka Vlimmer, aka Feverdreamt) is back just in time to buzz our last lazy late summer days with a rockin’ apocalyptic frenzy: after the dreamy (yet, always restless) predecessor, Fir Cone Children’s 8th album, “Today There’s No Tomorrow”, marks a return to raw, fast and wild lo-fi-shoegazey-psychedelic-garage-rock-imbued melodic onslaughts.

Fierce, reckless and anthemic loud volumes brimming with liberating urgency and ragged defiance, through frantic drum beats, punchy basslines, abrasive edgy double guitar distortion and screamed polyharmonies, overflowing in eight straightforward high emotional blasts blurred by existential angst.

WL//WH is pleased to premiere the crushing third single “No Mercy.”

Like all songs from Fir Cone Children the lyrics deal with my daughters’ lives. They’re seven and nine years old now, and the little one has an exceptionally powerful and loud voice. Whenever she tells the family of something she’s just experienced, she talks in an excited, yet unnecessarily loud way. It’s funny and over the top at the same time. It’s as if she stood on the other side of the room, but she actually is right next to our ears. So I wondered what the reason for this might be. Sure, it’s a simple stage in her life, but maybe she also thinks she needs to do this in order to be heard properly? Alexander Leonard Donat

Urgent and rambunctious punk attitude assaults the senses with an incoming surge of rolling and pounding drum beats, rumbling bass lines, and frenetic shredding, rattling guitar riffs, to create an endless wave of tumultuous moods under a dynamic layering of caustic, and taunting vocal antics, casting sassy croons, angsty cries, and obnoxious shouts into nonstop rock’n’roll rife with childhood fervour.

Fir Cone Children‘s forthcoming 8th LP “Today There’s No Tomorrow“, is due out, in Cassette/CD & Digital formats, on 30 September 2022 via his own label Blackjack Illuminist Records.
