The dream-punk moniker, Fir Cone Children, led by the mercurial Berlin-based German musician, producer, visual artist and book author, as well as head of Blackjack Illuminist Records, Alexander Donat, (a.k.a. Vlimmer, Leonard Las Vegas, Feverdreamt, Infravoids), is born with the goal to dedicate each of his Fir Cone Children yearly albums to his two daughters. WL//WH is pleased to premiere the second preview from the LP, “Knees In The Sand”, featuring Krissy Vanderwoude of Whimsical and The Churchhill Garden on guest vocals.
The biographical lyrics relive a family field trip to Bradenburg, Germany, where a wrong turn leads to hours of drama, trauma, and youthful imaginations as a modern dad and his two young daughters have a surprise showdown with a secret sandpit of doom.
Steeped in ethereally feverish moods, “Knees In The Sand” blows warm glowing synth swathes through tumultuous dragging rhythms, murky reverbs, sinuous rumbling bass lines, and an intoxicating array of soaring male/female vocal harmonies adrift in high-strung anxiety and ominous baritone mishaps, to release the whimsical charm of the lyrical narrative into a stripped-down pause of rambunctious drum beats, obsessively pulsing low ends and penetrating guitar slivers, ploughing relentless nervous dancing energies through the lively tale of animated dread.
Fir Cone Children‘s 7th album “It Chooses You” is going to be released, CD/Cassette/Digital, on December 3, 2021 via Blackjack Illuminist Records.
